A Utah Venue Close to the Salt Lake Airport and Right Under the Wasatch Mountains
Couples who get married at Walker Farms love it! The venue is located 45 minutes from the Salt Lake City Airport and only 20 minutes from the city of Provo. It is great for out-of-town guests, and easy to find and get to. There are so many great opportunities for photos there. Upon arriving, you will notice a large parking area that is super convenient for all of your guests! Guests love taking pictures together all over the property, but even the parking lot is gorgeous! Guests are likely to find the vintage Chevrolet pickup out front. The venue is nestled at the bottom of Utah Countie's iconic mountain - Mount Timpanogos. Inside the venue is bright, yet western and cozy. The walls and ceilings are all painted a vibrant white, which allows for so many great options to make the place your own with color and wedding decor. The floors and windows are a rich, warm, barn wood, and the natural light from outside spills in with their giant windows. The space also features a grand, double staircase and beautiful chandeliers. Getting married inside is not your only option at Walker Farms! They also offer a beautiful outdoor space with well-manicured lawns, gardens, and the same glamorous yet Western vibes! Photos that you will see in this blog will showcase most of the beautiful areas on the property!
Best Utah Wedding Venues - Walker Farms
When Cassandra first reached out to me and asked me to be her wedding photographer, I was really excited to work with her. I knew a bit about her wedding vision and it sounded like such a dream! She mentioned that she likes the Utah landscape, like our iconic mountains, barn weddings, romantic wedding vibes, and colorful details. Then, when Cassandra mentioned that she had booked Walker Farms for her venue, I was over the moon! I love filling my calendar with a combination of adventurous elopements and traditional and beautiful weddings in venues. Walker Farms is likely at the top of most Utah photographers' list. Photographers like me love it so much because of a lot of the reasons that I mentioned above, but it's also just so convenient. The location is great, and the space offers such a great blank space for brides like Cassandra to decorate with her vision in mind.
Honestly, I do not think Cassandra's vision could have come together any better and a lot of credit is due to Rosie Rue Floral Company (check out their website here)! My jaw hit the floor when I first arrived at the venue. The long tables were set up with these beautiful, colorful flowers. Orange is a unique color for a wedding, but it was absolutely perfect in this setting! The amount of effort that must have been put into these flower arrangements was phenomenal! If you look closely, each arrangement is different and each vase is different, but it all came together perfectly! I think you'll agree with just how beautiful the flowers were throughout all of the spaces in this blog!
What it is Like to Get Married at Walker Farms
Arguably one of the most important parts of wedding planning is the timeline creation. This is something that I personally spend a lot of time helping my brides create. Even though Walker Farms offers a stunning space for couples to get ready, Cassandra and Richard just don't love those types of photos. Their priorities revolved around the details that they spent so much time picking out and their loved ones who were able to attend. They wanted a lot of candid photos on top of our pre-planned posed photos. Wedding timelines and photo lists tend to be very relaxed because we spend less time trying to create moments, and more time going with the flow. Plus, we had already captured a ton of beautiful bridals at Buffalo Peak so there was not a ton of pressure to get all of the beautiful posed photos at the venue. The timeline allowed for plenty of photo opportunities, but I know that Cassandra was relieved that the important ones of her and Richard were already captured because her wedding day just happened to be one of the hottest days of the summer! So when I arrived at the venue everyone was still getting ready. I had plenty of time to capture wide shots of the space without people there and the pre-ceremony moments that naturally played out.

Adding Adventure to Your Venue Wedding
Buffalo Peak Bridal Session
I love to encourage all of my couples to fold in a little bit of adventure to their wedding photos. There are so many great opportunities to do this for all weddings, especially in Utah. Cassandra and Richard currently reside in Utah, but it has not always been their home. One of the first things that transplants like us notice and seem to love the most about the Salt Lake Valley is the view. Every day we wake up to the beautiful Wasatch Mountains. So naturally, I will almost always suggest incorporating them into our photos. Luckily, they loved the idea and we decided to capture their first look and bridal photos a couple of weeks before their wedding at Buffalo Peak. The adventure of this bridal session was the drive. To get to Buffalo Peak, you have to drive up Provo Canyon and up a winding dirt road, then hike down a small hill, but all of it is worth it once you see that view! The July night that we captured their photos was especially beautiful. No one likes or wants a wildfire, but the smoke was blowing in from a summer Canadian fire and it diffused the light in a way that made everything appear even more golden at sunset. It was one of those situations - when life hands you lemons, am I right? We embraced the night and throughout our hour-long session, we saw so many different versions of the light.
Most of my photography packages include a free engagement or bridal session. These sessions are a great way for us to meet each other in person, get more comfortable together, and be even more ready to spend the wedding day together!
A Venue in Utah that Can Accommodate 150 Guests!
Cassandra and Richard wanted a beautiful, traditional wedding, but made it lowkey! They did something that I have never seen at a wedding... board games. Now, I know a lot of couples have games at their wedding, but this was a reception where every single person was sitting at a table playing their game of choice. Cassandra and Richard had a table set up of board games and card games. After they finished all of the typical reception activities such as the dinner, cake cutting, and first dances, everyone grabbed a box or set of cards and started picking their opponents. It was so them! I love it when couples embrace who they are and make the day about themselves. It just seemed like who they were and what it was like to be friends with them, and I admire that they brought that energy to their wedding day and I would like to encourage all of my other couples to do the same! At the end of the day, all of these people came to celebrate Cassandra and Richard's love, so why do anything but be themselves?
