5+ years of local experience!
Roy and Annie moved from Wyoming to Salt Lake City in 2018 to start their wedding photography business. As they began to explore the local areas, Roy suggested taking a trip to Moab, UT. It is such a fascinating location, unlike the prairies of Wyoming. Booking with a photographer/videographer who is inspired by the surrounding landscape can make all of the difference!
Now they have worked with several couples with their elopements, bridals, and engagement photos in the Canyonlands and surrounding area. Annie and Roy have a lot of tips and tricks for how to have a successful wedding in such a unique area because they know it so well.

Past work from Canyonlands National Park
Moab, Utah has a lot of free locations to get married in!
We have a whole blog about this!
Where to get married in Canyonlands National Park?
Did you know that Canyonlands National Park and Arches National Park are right beside each other? They both are located right beside a town in Southern Utah called Moab. When choosing to elope in the area, you have a lot of options! When it comes to your ceremony location, I think it should come down to privacy, what you want to include (there are some rules), and the logistics of getting there! We can always go on other adventures around your favorite landscapes in the area to capture bridals and adventure sessions.
Picking a wedding date in Canyonlands
There are two main times that couples will want to get married in the area. That is in the spring and in the fall. The reason that most couples do not choose to get married in the summer is because of the heat. Temperatures can get well above 100 degrees without much relief in the evening. Even though winter is shorter in southern Utah, we still get snow! For these reasons, the best temperature comes in the spring and in the fall.
Finding vendors who will work in Canyonlands National Park
There are so many great vendors who will work with you on your wedding in the canyonlands! We would be happy to help you find other vendors. Here are some of the key vendors you will need to book with:
- Officiant
- Florist
- Decor/Rentals
Tips for your wedding day in Southern Utah:
The canyonlands are quite literally a harsh desert. You will need to take some extra precautions if you choose to get married out here.
- Know the terrain - you may need to rent a 4x4 car to get to your destination but don't worry, they are easily available!
- Bring plenty of food and water. As I said, pit stops are rare, so make sure you have what you need.
- Bring sunscreen!
- Know the rules - All national parks are protected spaces and we want to make sure they stay preserved. One rule that a lot of couples do not realize is that you cannot introduce new plants to the area, so no real wedding bouquets!
